Water upgrades, building plans on the table
The Belmont County Board of Commissioners fielded questions and gave an update on planned water infrastructure improvement Wednesday.
Commissioners J.P. Dutton, Josh Meyer and Mark Thomas conducted the meeting.
Richard Hord, of Martins Ferry, inquired if there are any new developments or plans regarding the former Belmont Habilitation Center off Ohio 331 in the vicinity of several county agencies. He asked if the building could be put to use in dealing with issues of overcrowding at the Belmont County Jail.
“I know there’s been some consideration given to the jail annex situation,” said Hord. “I know the plans are to have it torn down, but it’s relatively close to the current jail.”
He also asked if the building could be used for storage of records.
